Update on Chunk

In the words of Carla Lane Animals In Need who have supported Chunk and his owner throughout proceedings.

At Liverpool Magistrates court on Tuesday 9/8/16 Chunk was sentenced to death!
Barrister Pam Rose presented an excellent defence but to no avail, Chunk didn’t stand a chance. All the evidence showed that this dog had never put a paw wrong in 6 years until that fateful night. He has been in police kennels for 13 months and not one complaint of bad behaviour had been made against him. Many neighbours from where Chunk lives provided the court with letters of support as well as signing a petition to save him. A video was shown in court of him being assessed, a gentle bewildered dog a little shy but so happy to have someone play ball with him. He was so obedient his owner wept as did his witness. It seems nothing could move the judge and prosecution solicitor who continued to insist that his owner was guilty even though the case against him had been dropped at Crown Court. Even the Victim withdrew his complaint.
His owner has been left broken and disheartened but is appealing the decision at the Crown Court even though he now faces £5000 costs.

Carla Lane Animals in Need have created a fund to help save Chunk.
